August 4 | BAND OF HEATHENS

Join us at The Bullpen on August 4th for Band of Heathens ft. Alex Cano and The Last Real Circus!

ABOUT THE ARTIST

With their professional lives on hold during the pandemic, The Band of Heathens found a year-long creative workaround. Every Tuesday night, the five-piece group came together via Zoom from their respective homes–from L.A. to Asheville-to host the Good Time Supper Club, a ninety-minute variety program.“It was nice to be able to use music as a connective thread and something that’s healing,” says guitarist-vocalist Ed Jurdi. “We were doing it for ourselves, but the greatest benefit was how it created this community for us to hang out with our fans.”Guitarist-vocalist and fellow founding member Gordy Quist agrees. “The show was like a release, where we all connected and forgot about the stuff going on around us.

At some point, we decided to bring in guests for an interview, and that turned into ‘Hey, let’s pre-record a music video of a cover song with each of them.’”That segment of the show, called Remote Transmissions, became a much-anticipated fan favorite each week. And it is now the title of their latest album, featuring covers of ten classic songs with guest vocals by the likes of Margo Price, Ray Wylie Hubbard and Charlie Starr.

It’s just the latest innovative move for The Band Of Heathens, who over the last fifteen years have released nine acclaimed albums of roots rock originals, played festivals like Bonnaroo and South by Southwest, and toured the world many times over (Rolling Stone Calls them “a smoking live band”), all while remaining that rarest of birds–a truly independent group.

August 5 | BAHA MEN

Join us at The Bullpen on August 5th for the Baha Men ft. Jeverson!

ABOUT THE BAND

Approaching their 30th anniversary as a group, the Baha Men rode a massive wave of success in the early 2000s following the release of hit single, ‘Who Let the Dogs Out’. Featured in major motion pictures and chanted throughout sports stadiums around the globe, the Baha Men unleashed a revolutionary form of Caribbean pop that permeated American pop culture.

The hit single would go on to earn the band several awards including a 2000 Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording,as well as Billboard Music Awards for World Music Artist and Album of the Year. The group would also win a Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award for Favorite Song the same year, then follow it up with another Kids Choice Award for Favorite Band in 2002.

Their worldwide success also propelled them into the film industry, where they saw several of their songs featured in movies such as Miss Congeniality, Around the World in 80 Days, Garfield: The Movie, Men In Black II, and most notably, The Hangover. 2003 also saw their hit song ‘Best Years of Our Lives’ featured in the international hit, Shrek.

A relationship with Disney brought about several opportunities for the Baha Men, as well. In 2002, the group covered The Lion King classic, ‘Hakuna Matata’, for the debut DisneyMania album. The band would also go on to record ‘Bahama Roller Coaster Ride’, their take on ‘Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride’ from the movie Lilo & Stitch for DisneyMania 4.

Recognized by Rolling Stone as “Bahamian junkanoo pioneers”, the Baha Men continue to hit monumental milestones. With the support of Sony Music Entertainment, the group released ‘Night and Day’ in 2014. Soon after, the track was selected to be featured alongside Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Santana, and others in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Official Album. In 2015, the band released Ride With Me, their first album in over ten years, following a performance at the halftime show of a New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys game. The album would mark the beginning of a relationship between the Baha Men and producer Troyton Rami (Sean Paul, Beenie Man, Wayne Wonder), who would go on to produce future releases. As the band nears 100 million cumulative streams worldwide, the group has also performed on Live with Kelly and Ryan, The Bachelorette, and collaborated with Our Last Night for a performance that has since surpassed a million views on YouTube.

Through a partnership with producer Troyton Rami, the Baha Men first released ‘Bumpa’ on February 22nd, 2018. Reaching 200K Spotify streams since release and featured on Sirius XM’s Venus Channel, they followed up the single with the April 5th, 2019 release of ‘Let’s Go’. Produced by DJ Buddha (Pitbull), the band honed their high-energy, junkanoo-meets-hip hop brew.

With their April 30th release of ‘Take A Chance,” recorded with Patrick Romantik in Miami, the Baha Men continue to prove their longevity and ability to craft high energy pop hooks while maintaining a close-knit and familial feel to their music.

August 25 | JAMESON RODGERS

Join us at The Bullpen on August 25th for Jameson Rodgers!

ABOUT THE ARTIST

iHeartRadio Music Awards Best New Country Artist nominee Jameson Rodgers is quickly cementing his place as one of country music’s most intriguing singer/songwriters. Not only does the Mississippi native currently find himself enjoying the success of his Platinum-certified No. 1 hit “Some Girls” and his follow-up smash “Cold Beer Calling My Name” featuring label mate Luke Combs, but the 33-year-old is now utilizing these addictive songs as the firm foundation for his new EP, In It for the Money. It’s all a part of a journey that began in 2010, when Rodgers moved to Nashville and started laying the groundwork of his career at a myriad of open mic nights in Music City. Soon, Rodgers’ talent as a songwriter began to get noticed, as he co-penned Platinum-selling hits for Florida Georgia Line (Top 10 single “Talk You Out of It”) and Chris Lane (No. 1 smash “I Don’t Know About You”), along with “Camouflage Hat” on Jason Aldean’s most recent album 9 and the title track of Luke Bryan’s latest release Born Here Live Here Die Here. In 2019, Rodgers found himself in arenas of screaming fans as an opener on Combs’ tour, only to find himself off the road in 2020 due to the pandemic. But it is this time that offered him the chance to create a new EP that takes bits and pieces of Rodgers’ truth and puts them together into a project in which a shy guy speaks loud about life and love and lessons learned.

August 29 | DEVON GILFILLIAN

Join us at The Bullpen on August 29th for Devon Gilfillian, MANE, and The Last Real Circus!

Devon Gilfillian:

There is deep soul in the music of Devon Gilfillian—but for the talented Nashville-based singer-songwriter and bandleader, that descriptor goes way beyond a mere genre classification.

Growing up in Philadelphia on a steady diet of R&B, hiphop, rock, blues, and soul music, Gilfillian gravitated to records that ignited his mind while making his body move. For him, listening to the towering icons of his musician father’s era—Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding, The Temptations—was just as formative and exciting as discovering the new sounds of his own generation, and the beats and rhymes made by rising rap stars like Wu-Tang Clan, Kanye West, Notorious B.I.G., and Jay-Z inspired him in new ways. He began to recognize a connective thread in the sounds he loved best: from the golden throwbacks sampled by the hip-hop beat makers to the raw, emotional vocal deliveries of the Motown greats, for Gilfillian the key ingredient seemed to be the “soul”—not simply the genre, but the feeling and vibe.

Following his electrifying 2016 debut EP with upbeat singles like “High” and “Troublemaker” in 2018, Gilfillian signed to Capitol Records and hit the road––performing with the likes of Anderson East, Keith Urban, Gladys Knight, Kaleo, The Fray, Mavis Staples, and more. In early 2019, Gilfillian traveled to Africa to find healing and inspiration before headlining a tour in Scandinavia and opening for Brothers Osborne on their spring tour. His debut album, “Black Hole Rainbow,” is available now. In early 2020, Gilfillian embarked on a cross-country tour with Grace Potter.

After COVID-19, Gilfillian redirected his energy to doing what he does best, making music. He rerecorded Marvin Gaye’s iconic album, “What’s Going On,” releasing it in fall of 2020 around the election. The project raised funds for low-income communities and communities of color, providing resources and education around the democratic process. In November 2020, Gilfillian released “Freedom,” with indie-rockers, Illiterate Light and his debut album, “Black Hole Rainbow,” was nominated for a Grammy – “Best Engineered Album.” In December 2020, Gilfillian performed his top 5 AAA hit, “The Good Life” on Jimmy Kimmel Live. He’s currently writing for LP#2.

They are known for their unique sound tailoring to all genres of music, energetic stage presence, storytelling and overall musicianship.

September 7 | MICHAEL RAY

Join us at The Bullpen on September 7th for Country Artist, Michael Ray!

ABOUT THE ARTIST

For Michael Ray, music is his grandfather singing and sweating on a rural Florida stage. It’s the childhood refuge he found during the pain of his parents’ divorce. It’s family and stories, history and hope. Ray says music saved him, but it did even more: Music made him. In five short years, Ray has built an impressive foundation: four No. 1 songs – RIAA Platinum-certified “Think a Little Less,” RIAA Gold-certified “Kiss You in the Morning,” RIAA Gold-certified “One That Got Away” and RIAA Gold-certified “Whiskey And Rain” – plus “Get to You” and “Her World or Mine,” brings his tally to five Gold-certified singles. Ray has garnered over 1 billion global streams, over 650,000 album equivalents, over 100 million YouTube views and has performed at the Grand Ole Opry over 60 times. Now, two hit albums into that all-too-rare blend of critically acclaimed and commercially successful career, Ray has released Higher Education, a seven-song collection produced by GRAMMY-nominated producer Ross Copperman. Proof that heartbroken wallowing can feel good if it swings, “Whiskey And Rain” marked his first multi-week No. 1, cementing Ray as the ideal bridge between vintage country cool and modern country’s best sounds. Learn more about Ray at MichaelRayMusic.com or follow him on Instagram and Twitter @MichaelRayMusic and Facebook.com/MusicMichaelRay.

September 23 | WHITE FORD BRONCO

Join us at The Bullpen on September 23rd for D.C’s favorite all-90’s cover band, WHITE FORD BRONCO!

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Long a mere dream kicking around in the overactive imaginations of its founders, White Ford Bronco officially came into being in the Spring of 2008.  Since then their five member ensemble has been sparking bouts of flannel-laden, slap-bracelet-snapping, pog-playing, big-butt-loving nostalgia across the Washington, D.C. area that they call home.  If you’re longing for the days when Danny Tanner could solve everything with a hug and presidential scandals only involved ruining a marriage, allow us to take you on a musical journey to that magical last decade of the 20th century.  Whatever flavor — be it Alternative, Rock, Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, or Country — if it’s 90s, they’ll play it.
